Meet Hero of the Week Viktoria Alipatova

Welcome to Hero of the Week, an ongoing series sharing stories from some of the best photographers in the Pexels community.

Today we’re introducing Viktoria Alipatova. Based in Moscow, Viktoria is the marketing manager at digital agency Critical Friends. She’s also a talented photographer who’s been taking photos for the past five or so years, with a focus on food and coffee shots.

“I started taking pictures when I was in high school,” says Viktoria, “because of my desire to catch the moment.” This need to record the small moments around her has lead to some beautiful images, from quiet still lifes capturing afternoon coffee breaks, to meditative street scenes.

Viktoria shoots with a Canon 600D and 50mm 1.8 lens, as well as her iPhone 8+. For film shots, she grabs her Mamiya/Sekor, a 1970s era analog SLR that Viktoria uses with a 48mm 1:1.9 lens—a current goal of hers is to explore this camera more.

“I find the whole experience of shooting to be quite meditative and enjoyable,” says Viktoria. For her, photography is a way to relax and to find the beauty in everyday things: “Nothing inspires me more than simple things that surround us.”
