A Photo Series Documenting Life in Lockdown

While at home under coronavirus lockdown in Wales, photographer and Pexels curator Lisa Fotios decided to begin documenting her experience.

Locked down with her family, Lisa began photographing everyday life—from lonely moments to playful ones, from getting ready in the morning to solitary walks around her near-deserted town.

Life on lockdown can be both boring and stressful, but Lisa's photos also capture the moments of calm, laughter, and connection that can still be found in this strange moment in time.

She shares the motivation behind the series, called Documenting Isolation:

Since the start of the year, I've taken an interest in documentary photography, capturing the world as it is. My focus has been on street photography, and hopefully I’ll be able to get back to this later in the year, once the pandemic is over.

In the meantime, I needed to start this new project to keep myself busy and keep my creative spark going, despite being in quarantine. I decided to keep working within the same genre and see how I could do documentary photography at home.

I hope this photo series will also offer something to look back on in the future. I wanted to capture my experience during this unique time by photographing the everyday and finding beauty in the mundane.
