10 Photographers to Follow on International Women's Day

This International Women's Day, the official theme is Choose to Challenge. We're challenging everyone to add more women photographers to your radar.

Despite being early innovators in photography, women are still underrepresented in the field.

Data collected by the Women Photograph initiative shows that female photographers are still the minority when it comes to publication in major news outlets, and many women photographers say they've experienced discrimination at work.

And yet some of history's most influential photographers have been female. As early as the 1840s, British photographer Anna Atkins was pioneering new techniques of documenting plants and flowers with cyanotype photography. Documentary photographers like Dorothea Lange and Diane Arbus created crucial socially-minded photography that opened people's eyes to social problems and helped establish photography as a tool for change.

For this year's International Women's Day, we're spotlighting just a few of the talented female photographers in the Pexels community. Located across the globe, from Brazil to Ukraine to Canada, these women are creating photos that well deserve a place in your following feed.
